Missing a Deadline

Missed deadlines is a failure of leadership and not solely of execution.

Many don’t want the responsibility of that statement but then, why are you in leadership? It’s our job to be responsible. It's our job to stand up and be accountable to what did and didn't happen. Not to point to out who or what contributed to the miss but to show how things are going to go right and how the future will be better because we own the miss and will learn from it. While I am a big believer in the 13 Trust Behaviors and know what a difference they can make when you put them in practice, Deliver Results stands in my mind as the best place to start when building trust. And delivering means not missing deadlines...
