Systems Thinking (and a little money thrown in)
I just read this article Thinking in Systems and was impressed by both the way that Matt illustrated how systems are adapted, from a gaming perspective, so you KNOW that's dear to my heart, and are beholden to their structures for their function. Another piece that actually caught my attention was how he drew on the Yanis Varoufakis argument against government austerity. Politics aside, it brought forth for me that as humans, we often superimpose our context, assumptions, and beliefs on situations or environments that may feel similar but functionally are not. I need to dig further into Yanis' argument to understand more of the details but can certainly appreciate how gaming, specifically systems thinking, can help us to better understand (and visualize) the functioning of the world around us.
