The Stack You Chose Last Year Just Became the Right Answer

Anthropic raised $65 billion in June at a $965 billion valuation. Claude holds somewhere between 42% and 54% of the global enterprise code generation market share, depending on the study. Ramp's May 2026 AI Index shows Claude edging past GPT in business AI spend for the first time. The platform selection that felt like a genuine coin flip twelve months ago is not a coin flip anymore.

A year ago I was in a lot of conversations about which AI platform to standardize on. The honest answer at the time was: we don't know yet, pick one and stay close to it. For many teams it was the Microsoft stack. For others it was Gemini. For some, Claude was already the native choice. What's changed isn't the technology. The technology has been competitive across the board for over a year. What changed is the market signal.

When enterprise spend, code generation share, and valuation all converge on the same name at the same time, the selection question is effectively answered. Not permanently (this market moves), but for the foreseeable planning horizon. The platform question has a working answer. The harder question is what you did while you were waiting for it.

Platform lock-in cuts both ways. Choosing early costs you optionality. But waiting costs you time, and in a market moving this fast, time spent on platform indecision is time not spent on delivery. The teams that committed to a stack twelve months ago and built on it are twelve months ahead. They have patterns in production. They have institutional knowledge of what the model does well and where it surprises you. They have twelve months of iteration. Certainty just arrived, but the lead is already gone.

If you are still in the "which platform" conversations, the data has answered the question. What have you built on it?
