Lifebook

purpose Feb 6, 2019

We utilize something we call Lifebook in the IBP. It's an interesting approach to looking at the future, what your goals are, and aligning what you should be focusing on now towards those ends. My intent here is to give you a high-level look at what we do but then my offer is, that I'm happy to walk thru the remainder of it with you.

To start, we discuss the fact that life is a complex mix of many aspects that cannot be delineated into simply "work" and "personal". It's all me. It's all connected. It all matters. When we look at the aspects, there are 8 that we focus on (other programs may have more or less but these are ours). They are:

  • Personal
  • Career
  • Health
  • Financial
  • Social
  • Family
  • Spiritual
  • Love

From here we discuss the longer term horizon, 20 years typically, and what goals might look like there. By writing as if it was 20 years from now, looking back across the span of our life, we are able to unlock our creativity. To be free to explore what MIGHT be rather than just what is possible. The more details that we can provide - images, descriptions, etc., the better that things are.

By working through exercises that clarify and crystalize what we want, who we are, and what we could be, we gain a perspective on what we can do now that aligns with that future.
