Patience

life Jul 20, 2023

There are two types of patience; passive patience and active patience. Passive is you sitting waiting for the world to hand you what you want. It's this errant belief that if you wait long and quietly enough, you'll get what you deserve. The problem is that it violates Newton's third law, "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction."

No action. No result. Oh, and by the way, life doesn't owe you anything so you're going to be waiting for a really. long. time.

The second is the more effective type of patience, active patience. It's about taking meaningful steps right now that set you up for future success. You can strategically prepare for what might be ahead of you; saving money, growing skills, and fostering relationships so that you're in the right place at the right time when it arrives.

Active patience sets up the cards in your favor. They say that luck favors the prepared and being unstoppable is a choice. So, if you go first, and do it consistently, the world does a lot of the heavy lifting for you.
